Earlier this year, our home Citizen Corps Council, the Arizona Central Region Citizen Corps Council, was nominated as one of the nation’s top Outstanding Citizen Corps Councils – Serving a Population over 750,000. This group oversees participating CERT, Fire Corps, Medical Reserve Corps, USAonWatch, and VIPS programs within Maricopa County. Daisy Mountain CERT and Fire Corps programs are serious members of this organization, including holding a position on the Executive Board.
Today, September 1, 2010, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the finalists. Unfortunately we didn't win the top honor, but for the second year in a row, we’ve been recognized as one of the top four programs in the United States.
Thank you to all of our volunteers and department staff, who have helped to make our Citizen Corps program so successful. Your hard work and effort is overwhelmingly appreciated.
